What we do

Flooring installation in Metro Detroit.

Hardwood, LVP, laminate, and tile. Subfloor prep to baseboard, one owner-led crew, laid flat and finished clean.

About the work

Floors laid flat, finished clean.

Flooring installation is the process of preparing a subfloor and laying a finished walking surface (hardwood, luxury vinyl plank, laminate, or tile) so it sits flat, transitions cleanly between rooms, and meets the baseboard without gaps. It sounds simple, but the result lives or dies on the prep. Metro Detroit homes span a century of construction, from 1920s Detroit bungalows with settled joists to newer builds off Woodward, and every one hides its own dips, squeaks, and high spots. We level and repair the subfloor first, then install, because a floor is only ever as flat as what sits underneath it.

Apex Construxive is an owner-led crew based in Detroit, and flooring is where a lot of our jobs start. The same crew that tears out the old floor also preps the subfloor, lays the new material, and finishes the transitions and shoe moulding, so nothing gets lost in a handoff between trades. Whether it's refinishing original oak in a single room or running LVP through an entire multi-unit turnover, we scribe tight to the walls, keep seams and grain consistent, and clean the site at the end of every day. Luis is on site the whole time, so the floor you approve at the walk-through is the floor you get.

Flooring questions

Flooring in Metro Detroit, answered.

What flooring types do you install?

We install and refinish hardwood, click-lock luxury vinyl plank and laminate, and tile flooring in porcelain, ceramic, and stone. Whichever material you choose, we handle subfloor prep, transitions, and shoe moulding so the finished floor is flat and clean edge to edge.

Do you prep and level the subfloor before installing?

Yes. Subfloor leveling and repair is part of every flooring job. A floor is only as flat as what is under it, so we correct dips, squeaks, and high spots before a single plank or tile goes down. Skipping that step is why so many floors telegraph problems within a year.

Can you install flooring in a whole house or multi-unit turnover?

Yes. We take on anything from a single room to an entire home or a multi-unit rental turnover. The same owner-led crew runs the whole job, so a large install stays consistent from the first room to the last.

Do you handle transitions and baseboard trim?

Yes. Because Apex covers flooring and finish carpentry under one crew, we install transitions between rooms and materials and finish down to the shoe moulding and baseboard. You get one crew accountable for the floor and the trim that frames it, not two subs pointing at each other.
